The Sonics is an instrumental Hip Hop album inspired by the Sounds of Dr Dre's classic album "The Chronic" and also the city of Los Angeles. Detective 47 did a deep dive into the sonics of The Chronic and after some investigation he designed a blueprint to lay out the sound. He employed duties to specific instruments to recreate his own bodies of work that took influence from the Dr and also the influences that influenced the Chronic. Mainly Parliament Funkadelic.

Using various moogs, the arp odyssey, an ol Stratrocaster, live horns, fretless bass, live percussion, grand piano, and a little Wurlitzer, the music for the Sonics was written. Studying the mixing techniques from none other than the Dr himself and Colin Wolfe. He then employed various mixing techniques and the use of analog gear to give the sound the sonic quality it needed to be worthy of its feat.

To gain extra inspiration for the album, Detective 47 drove all over different areas of Los Angeles and soaked in inspiration from all over the city. Each track on the album is named after a different street in the city of Angels. Each track is meant to take the listener to that place.
